Tales of the Travelling Tear III

Lunch in Paris

Paris
Lunch in Paris is a brisk walk into a boulagerie and picking up a savoury and a sweet. Most days, lunch is a walking affair. A moving visual and gastronomical treat.

One day, it was a sit down lunch at the balcony.

Here, the second apartment we rented near Charonne, a rare and beautiful Paris via a balcony.

Kamome Shokudo

Kamome Dinner

Kamome Shokudo/Seagull Dinner/Ruokala Lokki is a quiet and intimate film on life’s pleasures, triumphs and tribulations. Set in Finland, Helsinki; it revolves around Sachi, who has set up a Japanese diner and is soon joined by Midori and Masako whom each took a brave leap to be in Finland.

The synopsis had me predicting a film set to bore but this is a rare success of its genre for me. I was captivated by the characters as much as I was drawn to the beautiful sets and Sachie’s nimble fingers working on a cinnamon roll, grilling salmon, rolling up an onigiri and chopping up a Tonkatsu.

Tales of the Travelling Tear II

Tales of the Travelling Tear

London
In the Natural History Museum, we looked at taxidermy or the likes of it. I cant stop being fascinated by their morbid cuteness.

And we stared at rocks.

When properly displayed and surrounded by simple beautiful typography is quite a treat to browse.

Paris

We took an apartment in Île Saint-Louis for Paris. St Louis is an island located in the heart of Paris. A little oasis of quaint, quiet streets surround by the beautiful Seine.  Walking around aimlessly while waiting for the apartment to get cleaned… it rained.

Nice and dry under a brolly…

but would rather snuggle with the cold and lonely bicycle.

Photoshooting Happiness

hasselbladH2

I found this set of images in my hard disk while sorting out my portfolio. The ones I have picked out documented me seemingly having a good time at a photoshoot.

Looking at them reminds me how much I had loved this part of advertising, besides being indicative that a project has garnered most approvals and near its end, there is much to be enjoyed in the process.

Favourite Books Set: The Observer’s Books

The Observer's Books

I have been in the know of “The Observer’s Books” for a bit. They were a series of small pocket-sized books published by Frederick Warne & Co in the United Kingdom from 1937 to 2003. Covering a variety of topics from hobbies to art, history and wildlife, the entire collection spans up to 800 titles.

Stumbling upon “The Observer’s Book of Birds” (coincidentally numbered one on the spine) for 3 quid in Greenwich market and making a quick swoop for it has made me want more! I love them away with their dust covers, revealing the lovely colours and typography of their hardcovers. Such perfect shades of blue, green and browns!

The inside pages are equally treasured illustrations and 70s studio shots. They make a nice easy read on a Sunday over a cup of tea, by the window and preferably with a cat on the lap.
