Tales of the Travelling Tear III

Lunch in Paris

Paris
Lunch in Paris is a brisk walk into a boulagerie and picking up a savoury and a sweet. Most days, lunch is a walking affair. A moving visual and gastronomical treat.

One day, it was a sit down lunch at the balcony.

Here, the second apartment we rented near Charonne, a rare and beautiful Paris via a balcony.

London
In the Natural History Museum, we looked at taxidermy or the likes of it. I cant stop being fascinated by their morbid cuteness.

And we stared at rocks.

When properly displayed and surrounded by simple beautiful typography is quite a treat to browse.

Paris

We took an apartment in Île Saint-Louis for Paris. St Louis is an island located in the heart of Paris. A little oasis of quaint, quiet streets surround by the beautiful Seine.  Walking around aimlessly while waiting for the apartment to get cleaned… it rained.

Nice and dry under a brolly…

but would rather snuggle with the cold and lonely bicycle.

Berlin

My little habit picks up again in Berlin, love for windows and the much prided displays.

Excusez moi…

I am back from my petite vacation. Paris has been the highlight of my 3 weeks! They had quality boulangerie, desserts & bonbons, beef & fraise…  There were concept shops aplenty, foire à la brocante, quaint window displays, a beautiful language, centuries of culture, great mannerism, people and architecture.

Brocante in St Paul(Le Marais)

Berlin was inspiring with home grown labels(eg: Starstyling) and has amazing food: Currywrust was everywhere and to die for but otherwise, pork, potatoes & apples were staples. This city is a believer of big fluffy pillows,  almost a constant in all the hotels I have been and this time we lived in the Michelberger. Lovely and affordable, reinvited from an old factory with interiors styled by movie set designers.  Berliners  love their stationery, M+R sharpeners and fallbleistift are my picks.  This trip have appeared to be lackluster from my previous 2 visits… but it’s still good.

R.S.V.P in Mulackstraße Berlin and its fine curation of stationery.

London for me was bonding over cider, bagels, hummus, home-cooked dinner, tapas, tea… Off my beaten track, I made first visits to the Natural History Museum, with its intriguing taxidermy and brilliant typography found label for exhibits, the Geffrye Musuem, for interiors throughout the century, and the Greenwich market which offered good finds and some nice tea time.

A pretty corner in the Geffrye Musuem.

‘The Saddest Place on Earth’ visits Shenzhen

The Saddest Place on Earth visit Shenzhen

is Mimipong’s first fully sponsored showcase and is organised by the fine folks of Little Thing magazine. Being flown down to a foreign city, put up in a hotel to attend a show that started out as (and still is) a hobby is a nice feeling… and a big pat on the back . It makes all the sleepless nights, mad rush and moments of sheer panic a tad more worthwhile.
